CAPEX, or capital expenditure, is spending on assets and investments that provide benefits over an extended period. It includes the acquisition, replacement, expansion, or improvement of long-term assets and organizational capabilities, and is closely connected to budgeting, capitalization, depreciation, cash flow, governance, asset management, and total cost of ownership.
